So, today I’m particularly thrilled to bring you a very special interview with Sarah Petty from The Joy Of Marketing.
This is a great opportunity for you to learn from one of the masters of marketing in the photography business.
A talented photographer, educator and marketing expert, Sarah very kindly offered to spend 50 minutes talking with me on the phone about many aspects of the photography business, including:
- Marketing – the ins and outs of effectively reaching your target market
- Branding – what it means and how to do it effectively
- Pricing – knowing your cost of sales, and the pitfalls of discounting
- Newsletters – when and how to use them
- … and much more!

During this great interview, we covered a wide variety of topics, such as how photographers who might be struggling in their business can brand themselves effectively and how they should price their work. We also talked about some of the discounting practices, like Groupon, can damage a business. Direct marketing, client touch points, and marketing strategies were also big areas of discussion.
