(attention, money, etc). Try dating in your early 30's and watch women CONSTANTLY check their phones, and if they get a text message: Oh! GOTTA check it, can't wait til later, or even be discrete! It's like every text, phone call, or interruption is something of presidential and life changing matters that MUST be addressed instantly. I say that you train your friends. Even if you do have time, just don't answer the emails, phone, etc at every call. Eventually they will get it. That you're focused, and it better be important if they are going to interrupt you! Imagine if Beethoven had a cell phone when he was attempting to compose his memorable works? Heh. I doubt much would have been left that was considered memorable...maybe he wouldn't hear it ringing in retrospect.
